Echtholz Träume - bringing interior dreams to life

What started with a lovingly curated Mother's Day gift grew into a true passion for bespoke furniture. Echtholz Träume is a cabinet maker business that is continually inspired by fresh ideas, transforming them into unique pieces that elegantly enhance any space.

It all started six years ago on holiday in Lapland. Inspired by a small wooden magnet that Michelle brought home as a souvenir from her trip with her partner Lukas, the idea of working with wood and creating unique items emerged. Today, this inspiration is used to create pieces of furniture that tell stories.

The carpentry dream takes shape: from a basement to a fully equipped workshop

Master cabinet maker Lukas Bernand and his partner Michelle Ball have been running the Echtholz Träume cabinet maker business in Mönchberg for more than five years. The division of responsibility is key here: Michelle takes care of administration and all social media, while Lukas is responsible for the artisanal work in the shared workshop, overseeing everything from planning and CAD drawings to carpentry. He has also hired a journey-level cabinet maker.

Lukas had his first private cabinet maker projects in 2021 - from little Mother's Day gifts to chopping boards and smaller pieces of furniture. All of these were produced with great attention to detail in their modest 15m2 basement. Lukas recalls: "When our requests started to involve large wardrobes and other pieces of furniture, we could no longer expand our capacity in the small basement, so we rented our current 100m2 workshop."

Everything from a single source - from planning to CAD and carpentry

I first became aware of Lamello during my carpentry training, where the Classic X biscuit joiner was a standard piece of equipment," Lukas remembers. For over 10 years, the master cabinet maker has proudly owned a Classic X and a Zeta P2 biscuit joiner, which have become indispensable in his workshop. "The Lamello P-System is timeless and extensible, so I have the perfect solution for every angle," Lukas beams. Michelle adds: "We attach great importance to quality and attention to detail in our projects. This connects us to the Lamello brand. From the production of washbasins to the construction of staircases, TV cabinets and wardrobes - we can easily connect furniture components thanks to the Lamello and P-System connectors.

Design that inspires: the wall unit with character

Echtholz Träume designed a wall unit for one of its clients - a successful blend of functionality and design. Lukas explains: "The white elements of the wall unit aredecoratively coated and kept matt, while the edging is made of solid, varnished oak - an exciting contrast that gives the furniture a high-quality and modern look." It isparticularly worth noting that Lukas's first design immediately impressed the customers. The integration of a TV wall with acoustic slats was an essential wish that was implemented directly. In addition, three LED spotlights are installed in the wall unit, which provide pleasant lighting.

The solid wooden parts were easily and efficiently assembled thanks to the P-system with the Clamex P-14 and Tenso P-14 connectors and the original woodenbiscuit. Only minor adjustments were necessary on site. "A particular highlight is the integrated window seat, which not only encourages you to relax but also providesextra space for decorative items," adds Lukas.

Rethinking interior trends

There is currently a clear trend towards minimalistic solutions in bespoke living room furniture. Low boards are mostly used, with window seating becoming increasingly popular depending on the space available. The focus is on reduced pieces of furniture with carefully considered storage space which are both functional and aesthetic.

This turns a small idea into a big piece of furniture - with wood, soul and genuine passion.
