Oberhaizinger, Germany

From traditional craftsmanship to a modern interior design solution

Oberhaizinger was founded in 1905. Originally, the company was a traditional cabinet maker business with a broad range of services for its time. Now in its fourth generation, the company has been based in Julbach (Germany) for the past five years, employing about 250 people across several individual firms that are consolidated under the Oberhaizinger Holding. The company has meanwhile specialised in office and retail furnishings, with a particular emphasis on furnishing car dealerships.

"My training began in a small cabinet maker company alongside Stefan Oberhaizinger, who is now part of the management team," recalls Operations Manager Günther Wiedl. "We got to know each other during our training and later completed the master craftsman course together." Günther has been with the company since 2006. He started in the workshop and has worked his way up to his current position as operations manager.

From original wooden biscuits to new solutions

Lamello has long been a well-established name in the cabinet maker industry - particularly due to the original wooden biscuit, which has become the standard. Over the years, the range has been continuously expanded. Many of the products used today were discovered by the company at trade fairs and successfully integrated into everyday work.

Efficiency through innovation: Cabineo 8 M6 in use

Following the construction of the new building five years ago, the company invested in new machines and opted for a nesting machine. They were looking for a solution to integrate classic CNC connectors. This is where the Lamello drilling system with the Cabineo 8 M6 connector came into play. "Thanks to the Cabineo 8 M6, we can machine the surface directly without having to work on the front side," says Günther. With the Homag DRILLTEQ V-500, the connector can now be efficiently machined into the furniture.

"The decisive advantages of Cabineo connectors lie in surface machining: they save time during processing, as there is no need for additional work steps on the machine," explains Günther. "What's more, furniture can be easily screwed together, which eliminates the time-consuming gluing and drying process in the carcass press." Each year, the company uses around 30,000 to 35,000 Cabineo 8 M6 connectors, predominantly in black. Some customers such as Porsche or Audi want the connectors to be invisible - a challenge that the team overcomes by placing them as discreetly as possible.

The primary application of the Cabineo 8 M6 is in carcass manufacturing. "However, we also use the connector in other products, such as fitting strips and structural components like substructures - essentially wherever it is suitable," says Günther. Depending on the type of furniture, the P-System connector Clamex P and the original wooden biscuit from the Lamello system are also used. "They're versatile - from carcass manufacturing to substructure," says Günther.

Optimised processes for shorter turnaround times

Oberhaizinger already becomes involved in the early construction phrase: "From the first customer contact to the assembly of the furniture, it often takes one to two years. The time between ordering and production is usually around 12 weeks, and assembly at the dealership takes two to three weeks," explains Günther.

During production, they rely on small production batches to better sort components and facilitate assembly in the bench room. This ensures greater clarity for employees and shortens turnaround time.

With clearly structured processes and efficient solutions, Oberhaizinger ensures quality and adherence to deadlines from initial contact to assembly.
