Accessories and machine parts

Every Lamello biscuit joiner includes a multifunctional stop square. It is pushed onto the swivelling front stop or the base plate and offers many advantages during handling. The spacers are used to adjust the groove position.
 

Advantages of Lamello biscuit joiners

Efficient positioning

With the help of the reference surface on the base plate, the biscuit joiner is efficiently positioned on the outer edge of the workpiece. This eliminates the need to mark the milling position. The swivelling front stop and the stop square are also flush with the workpiece edge to facilitate machining.
 

Swivelling front stop with fixed pivot point

Milling into the edge is carried out by folding down the swivelling front stop. Because the pivot point is fixed, the milled groove always lies exactly in the same position. This means that the swivelling front stop can also be folded up or down repeatedly during work, without causing small measurement inaccuracies. Sources of error can also be prevented as the height cannot be adjusted.

Vertical stability

For milling into the surface, the multifunctional stop square is pushed onto the base plate so that the contact surface is enlarged. This results in safer and more precise handling, as the biscuit joiner can be held more securely and therefore slips less.

Equal distance to the cutter

If a dividing panel is joined, it is easiest to mill the dividing panel with the swivelling front stop folded down. The position of the dividing panel is then marked on the counterpart. The base plate can now be aligned with the pencil marks to position the machine on the surface. This is only possible because the cutter is exactly in the middle between the base plate and the swivelling front stop. Regardless of the selected stop option, the distance to the centre of the cutter is exactly 10 mm.

Freely adjustable groove position

If the stop square is pushed onto the front side of the machine, the groove position can be freely adjusted from 0 â€“ 50 mm. The scale indicates the distance from the edge of the workpiece to the centre of the cutter. This function is particularly suitable for obtuse mitres.

Perfect mitre precision

With the help of the stop square, the machine is placed on the outer surfaces of the workpieces for mitre connections. This ensures that the two workpieces fit together perfectly on the visible outer edge. Even when there are small differences in the thickness of the panel material, the joint on the outside is perfectly flush. This application is possible when creating 45° and 22.5° mitres.

Highly precise stop surfaces

Lamello machines are characterised by precisely machined components made of high-quality aluminium. The stop surfaces on the base plate, the swivelling front stop and the stop square enable precise contact with the workpiece. This makes it possible to carry out machining on both workpieces in a coordinated manner – efficiently and with minimal marks.

Long-lasting precision guidance

During the milling process, the machine slides forward in the guide on the base plate so that the rotating cutter can make the groove. The precise interaction between the moving cutting parts produces accurate, parallel grooves for the perfect accuracy of fit of the workpieces.

Working methods with Lamello biscuit joiners

180° surface connections

Quick folding of the swivelling stop for milling into the edges of the two workpieces. The distance from the workpiece surface to the centre of the milled groove is 10 mm. This means that the groove will be in the middle of a 20 mm thick panel. The 4 mm and 2 mm spacers (optional accessories) reduce the distance and are ideal for thinner materials.

90° corner joints

First slide on the multifunctional stop square and decide whether the milling should be carried out with or without a spacer, depending on the material thickness. Secondly, perform the surface and edge milling with the stop square mounted.

Dividing panel joints

There are two options for machining the dividing panel. The first option uses the shelf as a stop. This requires a minimum material thickness of 16 mm. Alternatively, the centre position is marked on the dividing panel and transferred to the second workpiece so that the centre mark on the groove cutter can be aligned with it.

Mitre joint, inside stop

For a mitre joint, the swivelling front stop is adjusted to the desired angle. To make operation easier, the swivelling front stop engages at 22.5°, 45° and 77.5° respectively. If a different angle is required, place the machine against the workpiece, apply the angle and tighten the swivelling front stop. The groove position can be varied by using the spacers.

Outside edge mitre joints 22.5° and 45°

Workpieces with cutting angles of 22.5° and 45° can be machined with a stop on the outside of the workpiece. This produces more precise milling results as the machine does not slip. The outsides of the workpiece always fit perfectly in the event of differences in material thickness. To this end, the stop square is placed at the front of the swivelling front stop and clamped in the required position.

Butt angle joints

The first workpiece to be machined is the one with the groove in the edge. The centre groove position is then transferred from the machine to the first workpiece. Once the workpieces have been assembled, the correct position on the workpiece is achieved with surface milling. The stop square attached to the swivelling front stop enables repeated grooving at exactly the same distance from the edge. 

Combination with CNC machines

If the furniture parts are machined on a CNC machining centre, it is advisable to drill positioning holes. Biscuit joints are equipped with positioning pins or clips that lock in place in the positioning drill holes and enable the efficient and precise positioning of the machine on the workpiece.
